Departing Faculty - Ms. Evron
Riverdale Review: So what is your role in the Riverdale community?
Ms. Leigh Evron: I am a upper school math teacher.
RR: Cool.
LE: I also lead middle school JiNY.
RR: Middle school JiNY, cool.
RR: And how long have you been at Riverdale?
LE: This is my third year teaching.
RR: What is a moment you will never forget from your years at Riverdale? I mean you could answer as a student (Ms. Evron was a student at Riverdale)
LE: Gosh, a moment I will never forget. There’s some that are fit to print and some that are not fit to print, but I guess a joke that a student made last year that I really liked and I will keep forever is, what’s a dentist’s favorite part of calculus?
RR: I can’t think of some pun.
LE: Well, so the answer to the joke is particle motion. But you’re supposed to think it’s concavity.
RR: Oh. OK. I was thinking of it. Yeah. OK. That makes sense. Yeah. That’s a good one.
RR: What is your favorite class that you’ve taught and why?
LE: Ooh. Gosh. Also really hard. I love this class, Methods of Proof, because it’s just some of my favorite math that I get to share with students. I also really like teaching Quantitative Reasoning, which is also a senior elective, because the students get a lot of say in what we study in that class, and we just get to do a whole bunch of really interesting topics. And yeah, it’s a fun time. I also love teaching calculus. This is true.
RR: Do you have any funny stories that occur at Riverdale that you would like to share?
LE: Well, concavity, I guess. Any funny stories? I should have asked for these questions in advance. I’ll think about it, if I think of a good one.
RR: Is there anything you will not miss about Riverdale?
LE: I really like it here actually. I mean, I like my colleagues a lot. The campus, I think the campus is beautiful. I like the students. I like the classes I teach. Yeah, leaving is really bittersweet. I don’t think there’s anything that I’m excited to get away from. Yeah.
RR: Yeah. What will you be doing next?
LE: I’m going to Collegiate. And I will be teaching upper school math there.
RR: Do you have any words of wisdom you would like to leave the RCS community with?
LE: Get enough sleep. Sleep is more important than math homework.
