EICs’ Parting Words - Amanda Chen

Riverdale Review: How long have you been on the Riverdale Review?

Amanda Chen: I’ve been on the Review since freshman year.

RR: What was your position on the Riverdale Review?

AC: I was editor in chief, and in my 10th and 11th grade years, I was co-news editor.

RR: Why did you join the review?

AC: Well, I actually was on the girls varsity tennis team with Lauren Gilman, who happened to be the EIC at the time, and so she was promoting the review a lot during our tennis practices. I had been interested in journalism, like I started a newspaper when I was in fifth grade, and so, I guess I just thought that it was interesting, and I joined the paper, and I stayed for all four years.

RR: What’s a highlight or funny story you have from your time on the Review?

AC: A highlight would be when Leo and I published the May issue and it came out in the print and we got to distribute it for the first time. I feel like that was just a really big moment, because I never worked on creating the paper.
