Early Bird Holiday Drink Review
The Riverdale Review recently visited the Early Bird cafe in Riverdale in preparation for the holiday season. Here is what we thought of the new drinks:
The Riverdale Country drink is a crowd favorite. The drink consists of a chai base with toasted marshmallow syrup. A combination of both the semi bitter chai and the sweet marshmallow syrup creates a delightful flavor profile. Be sure not to make the same mistake we did! Let it cool off for a little while after receiving your drink because it is served very hot. Overall we rated this drink a 9/10.
The Peppermint Hot Chocolate was a favorite of ours. While not overly minty, the peppermint complemented the hot chocolate in a lovely way. The drink perfectly encapsulates the holiday spirit while still maintaining a simple and tasty profile. It was delicious but not as tasty as the Riverdale Country. If you are planning a trip to Early Bird be sure to check this one out. Our final rating was 8.5/10.
Another drink we tried was The Peppermint Mocha Latte. The first time we visited the cafe, their espresso machine was out of order, but when we returned, we got the drink and really enjoyed it. It was more bitter than the Peppermint Hot Chocolate nevertheless, it still possessed a great balance of the flavors. This drink would serve as a great pre-school beverage that is sure to lift your holiday spirits. We rated this drink a 7/10.
Next, the S’mores Hot Chocolate. Our overall consensus was that the drink was tasty but too sweet. Unfortunately, we did not really taste graham crackers but there were definitely hints of marshmallow. If you want a sweet treat we recommend going for this drink. We gave it a 6.5/10
The Matcha Chai was our least favorite. The concept sounds like a great idea, considering we love both matcha, and chai. The combination, however, did not work well. The flavors were too overwhelming. So if you are curious, give it a try but in our opinion you should stick with the other drinks! We decided to award it a 6/10.
