The Hunt for the Best Hot Cocoa

During the chilly, post-break weeks of January, with lots of assessments and very little daylight, we think everyone should take a break and try one of the many warm holiday drinks around the Riverdale community! We sampled and rated a few seasonal favorites to see which ones are worth the quick trip. 

Hot Chocolate (DEIB event at school): 9/10. 

A classic done very well. The hot chocolate itself was rich, but the toppings bar was truly exceptional. There were plenty of options to customize (Oreo, marshmallow, and whipped cream featured above). The drink felt very festive and perfect for the winter event. Thanks, DEIB!

Peppermint Mocha (Early Bird): 3/10

Very prominent and authentic coffee taste. The espresso was so strong that the peppermint and chocolate weren’t noticeable. If you are looking for a less-sweet and coffee-forward drink to get you through the last weeks of Semester 1, this could be the one for you.

The Riverdale Country (Early Bird): 100/10  

Definitely a standout, and we love the Riverdale Country School representation. The chai was well-spiced, and the marshmallow toast topping took it to another level. It was creative, comforting, (very on-brand for Riverdale), and easily the most memorable of the drinks. 

Peanut Butter Cup Hot Chocolate (Early Bird): 10/10 

LOVED. So fun and with the Reese’s peanut butter cups and marshmallows on top, this drink felt more like a dessert than a beverage. If you enjoy peanut butter, this drink is sure to deliver. This drink was truly an amazing experience!
