PA Summer Grant
The purpose of the Parents Association Summer Grants is to encourage you to explore interests over the summer that you might not have the time or resources to do during the academic year. The committee hopes to approve as many student grants as possible within the allocated budget. The total budget is approximately $5,000-$6,000, and individual grants have ranged from $20-$1000.
Astrophysics Science Program
(June 14-July 14th)
This is a 4-week-long, full-time astrophysics program in which students will explore their own authentic research questions about variable stars, guided by the Science Department’s Alex Laing and former Riverdale Physics teacher, John Saunders. Students will work to collect and analyze data on variable stars using telescopes around the world. Students will submit their data to an online database organized by the American Association of Variable Star Observers, which is used by professional astronomers in selecting stars for future study.
