Helen Corcoran - Middle and Upper School Math

Riverdale Review: “Where did you work previously?”

Helen Corcoran: “I spent twenty years in the New York City Department of Education. My last school was in the Bronx, the Kennedy building. It was a school for recent immigrants to the United States. I was a math teacher and a math coach there to help the math teachers improve their skills.”

RR: “Do you have any hobbies, interests, or talents you’d like to share with the Riverdale community?”

HC: “I taught myself how to crochet and I really love it. I don’t follow patterns; I make my own patterns.”

RR: “Anything else you want to add?”

HC: “Nothing really — I’m happy to be here. I want to say that everybody has been incredibly warm and I really appreciate it because it’s not easy to go to a new environment and people. Both the faculty, adults, and the students have made it as easy as possible.”
