New Faculty: Katie Van Riper - Middle School English Teacher

Riverdale Review: What is your role in the Riverdale community?

Katie Van Riper: I’m a Penn Fellow, which means that I do a two year program here where I get to teach the middle and upper school. But right now I’m teaching middle school English. 

RR: Where did you work previously?

KVR: I worked at Greenwich Academy in Connecticut. 

RR: Do you have any hopes for this school year? 

KVR: I’m hoping to get to know Riverdale better and I’m really excited about teaching Julius Caesar in seventh grade. Maybe wearing a toga to class.

RR: Do you have any hobbies, interests, or talents you’d like to share?

KVR: I am a big Summer I Turned Pretty fan but that’s kind of over. I love to do yoga. My little fun fact is that I took Latin in college, so I’d love to get in touch with the kids who take Latin here.
